It was clear to the owner that due to his rapidly expanding trailer manufacturing business that he was quickly outgrowing his existing facility and that the need for a bigger factory and office area was becoming eminent. He was referred to TMC by another TMC Client as we had designed their nearby car wash and warehouse facilities a few years earlier. Upon a site visit of ATM’s (Australian Trailer Manufacturers) existing facilities, their extensive manufacturing operation was clearly evident and the need for a much larger area to be able to construct up to 10 large trailers simultaneously and an upgrade of their office areas became fully understood!

Originally it was planned to construct a majority of the building from concrete panels set hard against one of the side boundaries. However after the soil report was completed it was quickly realised that this must be changed due to the high level fluctuating water table and large amount of soft soil over the entire site. This resulted in the building material for the Factory being changed to a conventional portal frame steel clad structure supported on deepened concrete piers; a much cheaper structure due to the site soil conditions. The owner chose to have the front two storey Office section of the building remain concrete panel as he loved the design and the feature concrete blade columns and the overall ‘solid look’ of the building.

Council granted the Town Planning permit in ‘world record’ time and commencement on the construction documentation quickly followed thereafter. Post construction the owner is ecstatic with his new facility, loves the variety and balance of the building colours selected, loves how the building colours complement ATM’s logo, loves the colour variation designed into the roller doors and blade columns, and most importantly loves the spaciousness and functionality of the factory area.
